Minutes of the last meeting (6th April): Accepted as a true record.
Matters Arising: None..
Due to there being no guest speaker this month, a general, informal discussion regarding a wide range of related topics ensued for the majority of the meeting. As this was informal with no conclusions or decisions sought, official minutes were not required.
Joe Taylor: A fire at Greenslate farm has completely destroyed a newly constructed storage building and all contents. No one was injured.
John ONeil: The Waterloo Memorial will be unveiled 20th May at 3.00 p.m. As Joe lives nearby, members are invited to contact him before the day and perhaps meet beforehand.
Mary Pennington: Handed out latest newsletter about the Roman Road Wigan to Ribchester.
Glenys McClellan: The Leigh Family History Society have secured a discount
for their car parking on the day of the Conference in Leigh on 14th October
2017, which will help
greatly and have thanked the Council for their help.
Tom Price: The Civic Trust Trip to Weston Park in Shropshire is scheduled for
Weston Park is owned by the Bridgeman Family hence the connection to Wigan.The facilities on offer are a guided tour of the house. There are Gardens Parkland and the Granary Art Gallery to enjoy. Also on offer are a number of food outlets.
Entry and Coach costs are £21-00.The Coach will leave Wigan @9-30 outside the Youth Zone on Parsons Walk Wigan and leave Weston Park @4-30.
Cheques can be made payable to Wigan Civic Trust (Weston Park Trip) and to be paid to Anthony Grimshaw`s Office 6 Bridgeman Terrace wn1 1sx by 10th May.
On 8th.May, speaking to the Civic Trust will be Mr. Steve Thompson from the
Planning Office. He will be speaking about the controversial decision to refurbish
the Market Place.
